Places
Places lets you attach structured location information to an archive and rediscover saved posts by location in a list or on a map. It does not rewrite the original post, and one post can have multiple places.

Supported place data syncs between clients signed in to the same Social Archiver account. The full Places management view is not exposed to public-timeline visitors; finding and editing places is an owner action.
Browse archives by place
Open Places in the mobile, desktop, or web app to group located archives by place.
- Places/List view: Browse by name, address, archive count, and recency.
- Map view: Show places with coordinates as pins and clusters. Select a cluster to zoom into overlapping places.
- Posts view: Browse all posts that have attached places in one feed. This view is available in the mobile and desktop apps.
- Place detail: See every archive attached to a place and open it in a supported native or web map.
On mobile, Go to my location and Nearest sorting use location permission. If you decline the permission, you can still browse your saved places in the list and on the map.
Attach a place to a post
Open the place action on an archive card, then use one of these paths:
- Search and reuse a place already in your library.
- Search a supported map provider.
- Paste a map-place URL or, where offered, enter a place name and address manually.
- If the post has several places, choose a primary place when needed.
Available map providers vary by client and region. Google Maps and Kakao Map search are supported, and Naver Map and Kakao Map place URLs are recognized in supported flows. Selecting a result can first attach lightweight location metadata while richer details are added in the background.
Find Places with AI
Find Places reads the post body and link evidence to suggest locations that appear to be visits, recommendations, venues, route stops, or other mentions. On mobile, enable Include photo text to read text in images on the device and include it in the analysis.
- Choose Find Places from the archive's AI actions. The mobile share flow can also request place detection while saving.
- Review the evidence and confidence for each candidate.
- Search for the exact map place, choose an existing place, or correct the text manually.
- Attach only the candidates you want, and dismiss unrelated suggestions.
AI suggestions are never confirmed automatically. Branches with the same name or places that were merely mentioned can be ambiguous, so review them before saving. If candidates are already waiting, review them before running Find More Places.
AI and map-search usage
At the usage currently shown in the apps, Cloud AI place analysis uses 0.5 Cloud credit per request, and Google map search can use 1 Cloud credit per result page. Follow the in-app notice for Kakao search and other paths. The usage and remaining-credit values shown immediately before an action are authoritative.
Archive richer place details
Attaching a place is a lightweight link containing information such as its name, address, and coordinates. To preserve a separate place card with details such as photos, reviews, and opening hours, run Archive Place Details or Details from the attached place.
If the same map place is already archived, Social Archiver can link the existing place card instead of creating a duplicate. A failed detail archive does not remove the lightweight location already attached to the post.
Edit and remove places
- Removing one place from a post only detaches that relationship.
- Deleting a place from the Places view detaches it from every post; it does not delete the posts.
- Changing the primary place preserves the post's other place attachments.
- In Obsidian, place metadata is stored in a hidden body block. Use Social Archiver's place actions instead of editing that block directly to keep cross-client sync consistent.
Troubleshooting

| Map search is limited | Check the network, sign-in state, remaining Cloud credits, and any temporary provider rate limit, then try again later. |
| A suggestion is wrong | Do not confirm it. Search for the exact place, choose an existing place, correct it manually, or dismiss it. |
| A change from another device is missing | Confirm both clients use the same account, wait for sync, and refresh the view. |
