X (Twitter)
Social Archiver can save individual X posts, use an optional signed-in session for richer capture, import Chrome bookmarks in bulk, and subscribe to supported public profiles. Both x.com and legacy twitter.com post URLs are supported.
Save one post
Copy an individual /status/ URL and archive it from the mobile app, desktop app, web app, Obsidian plugin, or Chrome extension. On mobile, you can also send the link to Social Archiver from the iOS or Android share menu.
Depending on what X makes available, an archive can include:
- Post text, author, publishing time, and engagement metadata
- Photos and supported video
- Quote posts, link preview cards, and X Articles
- Visible replies or thread context
Only archive content you are allowed to preserve. Deleted, restricted, or account-limited content may not be available.
Optional signed-in session
A signed-in X session can improve capture when the post is only fully rendered for your account, including translated text and visible replies. It does not bypass X access controls.
Mobile
- Open Settings → Integrations → X.
- Tap Connect and sign in in the built-in X window.
- Complete any security prompt, then close the window when the connection is confirmed.
- If needed, enable Use session from share menu in the connected X row.
When the share-menu option is enabled, an X link shared to Social Archiver is queued for the app and processed with that device's session when the app opens.
Desktop
Open Settings → Integrations → X, connect in the X sign-in window, and then archive a post through URL capture, Quick Capture, clipboard capture, or browser-tab capture.
The mobile and desktop connections are separate. Connect X on each device where you want session-backed capture.
Session privacy
Your X password, cookies, and session tokens stay in the app's built-in browser on that device. Social Archiver does not receive them. The original URL, normalized post data, and requested media use the normal archive upload flow only when an account archive is created.
Import X bookmarks with Chrome
Use the Chrome extension when you want to move many bookmarks at once.
- Sign in to X in Chrome and open
https://x.com/i/bookmarks. - Open the Social Archiver extension and choose Import X Bookmarks.
- Run Discovery to collect the bookmark responses produced by the open X page.
- Choose a destination: Upload to my account, Archive to Obsidian vault, or Desktop app.
- Start the archive job. You can pause, resume, retry failed items, or discard the job.
The import preserves link cards, quote posts, X Articles, photos, and supported video when available. Discovery observes the Bookmarks GraphQL response that X already sends to the page; it does not call X's API on your behalf.
If discovery stops while a cursor is still available, complete the current job and run Discovery again for older bookmarks. Some responses do not expose a reliable account handle, so the importer may show unknown.

Keep the selected local client open and connected during handoff. Duplicate or skipped account items do not create another archive.
Subscribe to an X profile
For supported public profiles, create a subscription from an X profile URL to collect new posts on Social Archiver's schedule. Subscriptions are separate from bookmark imports and do not use your private bookmark list. See Subscriptions for setup and current client limitations.
Troubleshooting

| A post is incomplete | Connect the optional X session, reopen the post in that device, and retry after confirming the full text or replies are visible. |
| The session expired | Reconnect under Settings → Integrations → X. Logging out or changing the X password can invalidate the session. |
| Bookmark import is not shown | Open the exact bookmarks page in the same Chrome profile where X is signed in, then reopen the extension popup. |
| Discovery finds no bookmarks | Scroll the bookmarks page once, wait for it to load, and run Discovery again. |
| A local destination fails | Open the selected Obsidian or desktop client, confirm its browser handoff connection, and retry the failed items. |
| Requests are being limited | Stop repeated attempts and wait before retrying. Complete any verification requested by X. |
