Acceptance of Terms

By installing and using Social Archiver (the "Plugin"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Plugin.

Current Service Status

Free Beta (November 2025)

Social Archiver is currently completely free during the beta period. All features, including unlimited archiving and permanent web sharing, are available at no cost.

Future Plans (2026): After beta completion, we plan to introduce tiered pricing. Existing beta users will receive special benefits. Details will be announced well in advance.

Obsidian Plugin Policy Compliance

Social Archiver complies with Obsidian's Developer Policies:

• Free community plugin: The plugin itself is free and open-source (MIT License)
• Optional premium services: API credits for archiving can be purchased externally via Gumroad
• Network use disclosed: Uses BrightData API and Cloudflare Workers (see Privacy Policy)
• Account requirement disclosed: Optional account for web sharing features only
• No in-plugin payments: All purchases handled through external Gumroad platform

Description of Service

Social Archiver is a free, open-source Obsidian community plugin.

Current Beta Features (All Free):

• Archive social media posts to your local Obsidian vault
• Download media content (images, videos) from supported platforms
• Optionally share archived posts via public web timelines
• Unlimited archiving during beta period
• Permanent web sharing (no expiration)
• All features completely free

Future Premium Service (2026 - After Beta):

• Purchase via Gumroad (external platform)
• 500 archive credits per month
• Permanent web sharing (no 30-day expiration)
• Priority support
• Same free plugin with enhanced cloud API access

The plugin code is open-source. Future premium features will be cloud services accessed via license key validation.

User Responsibilities

Legal Use Only

You agree to:

• Only archive content you have the legal right to save
• Respect copyright laws and intellectual property rights
• Comply with each platform's Terms of Service
• Not use the Plugin for illegal activities or unauthorized scraping
• Not archive content for commercial purposes without proper authorization

Content Ownership

• You are solely responsible for the content you archive
• Social Archiver does not grant you rights to copyrighted content
• Archived content belongs to the original creators and platforms
• You must obtain permission before archiving third-party content

Prohibited Uses

You may not use Social Archiver to:

• Archive content you do not have permission to save
• Violate any platform's Terms of Service or robots.txt directives
• Engage in automated mass scraping or data harvesting
• Archive content for resale or unauthorized distribution
• Harass, defame, or infringe on others' rights
• Circumvent platform access restrictions or rate limits

Web Sharing

Your Responsibility

When you enable web sharing:

• You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share that content
• You accept full liability for publicly shared content
• You must comply with copyright laws and platform policies

Sharing Modes

• Preview Mode: Text excerpts with platform links (copyright-safe)
• Full Mode: Complete original content (use with caution)

Warning: Full mode may violate platform Terms of Service or copyright laws. Use it only for content you own or have explicit permission to share.

Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove shared content that:

• Violates copyright or intellectual property rights
• Contains illegal material
• Violates platform Terms of Service
• Is reported by rights holders

Premium Tier (Optional Purchase):

Enhanced cloud API access via external Gumroad license:

• 500 archive credits per month
• Permanent web sharing (no expiration)
• Priority email support
• Early access to new features
• The plugin remains free - you're purchasing API credits and cloud services

Important: Obsidian policy requires the plugin itself to be free. Premium features are cloud services accessed via external license key purchased through Gumroad.

Beta User Benefits: Existing beta users will receive special pricing or bonus credits when premium tier launches. Details will be announced before beta ends.

Service Availability

API Dependencies

Social Archiver relies on third-party services:

• BrightData API for content fetching
• Cloudflare Workers for web sharing
• Platform APIs (may change or be discontinued)

We are not responsible for service interruptions caused by third-party providers.

Rate Limits

Current Beta Period (2025):

• Unlimited archiving - no rate limits
• Fair use policy applies (no excessive automated use)
• Abuse may result in account suspension

Future Plans (2026 - After Beta):

• Free tier: 10 archives per month
• Premium tier: 500 archives per month
• Additional archives may be purchased separately
• Rate limits may be adjusted with notice
• Abuse or excessive automated use may result in account suspension
• Credits reset monthly on your registration anniversary

Data and Privacy

Your use of the Plugin is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Key points:

• Archived content is stored locally in your Obsidian vault
• We do not access your vault data
• Web sharing is optional and controlled by you
• You can delete shared content at any time

• You may modify the Plugin for personal use

Trademarks

"Social Archiver" and associated branding are owned by [Your Name/Entity].

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLUGIN IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Merchantability
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement
• Accuracy or reliability of archived content

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any damages arising from your use of the Plugin
• Loss of data or content
• Service interruptions or errors
• Third-party platform changes or shutdowns
• Copyright infringement claims related to your use
• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Social Archiver, its developers, and contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Plugin
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights (including copyright)
• Content you archive or share

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms of Service
• You engage in abusive or illegal behavior
• You repeatedly exceed rate limits
• Required by law or platform policy

You may delete your account at any time from the Plugin settings.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Continued use of the Plugin after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

For significant changes, we will notify users via:

• Plugin update notes
• Email (if you have an account)

Social Media Platforms

By archiving content from specific platforms, you also agree to comply with:

• Facebook Terms of Service
• Instagram Terms of Service
• LinkedIn User Agreement
• TikTok Terms of Service
• X (Twitter) Terms of Service
• Meta Threads Terms
• YouTube Terms of Service
• Reddit User Agreement

Important: Platforms may prohibit scraping or archiving. You are responsible for compliance.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict of law principles.

For international users, local consumer protection laws may also apply.

Dispute Resolution

Any disputes shall be resolved through:

1. Good faith negotiation: Contact [email protected]
2. Mediation: Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (if negotiation fails)
3. Jurisdiction: Seoul Central District Court, Republic of Korea

For International Users:

• EU users: May pursue disputes in their local jurisdiction under EU consumer protection laws
• US users: May pursue disputes through small claims court in their jurisdiction

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Social Archiver.
