Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 29, 2026

Introduction

Social Archiver is designed as a local-first archive tool. This Privacy Policy explains how Social Archiver handles account, archive, sync, billing, sharing, and support data.

Current Service Status

Current Access

The Obsidian community plugin is free and open-source. Free accounts include a monthly successful archive quota. Premium monthly, annual, and lifetime plans remove monthly archive limits while the entitlement is active.

Beta-Free Sunset

Some early accounts may still have the internal beta-free plan until the beta-free sunset.

  • Beta-free access ends on May 7, 2026 at 09:00 KST.
  • Server enforcement uses the equivalent UTC timestamp: May 7, 2026 at 00:00 UTC.
  • After this point, beta-free accounts are treated as Free accounts unless the account has a Premium, Lifetime, or Admin entitlement.

Data Storage Philosophy

Your data stays yours. Social Archiver is built around local-first archiving:

  • Posts archived through the Obsidian plugin are saved in your local Obsidian vault.
  • Mobile and desktop app data may be stored locally on your device.
  • Sync, web sharing, billing, and account features may require server processing.
  • You control which content you archive and share.

What Data We Process

Local Archive Data

Depending on the client you use, local data may include:

  • Posts you choose to archive
  • Images, videos, thumbnails, transcripts, and metadata
  • Tags, notes, highlights, and local organization data

Social Archiver does not read your local Obsidian vault unless you explicitly use features that send data to the server, such as sync or web sharing.

Account Data

When you authenticate with Social Archiver, we may process:

  • Email address for magic-link authentication
  • Username and account identifiers
  • Authentication tokens
  • Client and device identifiers needed for sync, notifications, abuse prevention, and support

Archive, Sync, and Sharing Data

When you archive, sync, or share content, we may process:

  • Submitted URLs and archive metadata
  • Server archive records needed for deduplication, sync, quota accounting, and retrieval
  • Shared post content and public timeline metadata when web sharing is enabled
  • Server media storage records when media preservation is enabled

Billing Data

For Premium or Lifetime access, we may process:

  • Product identifiers
  • Provider customer IDs
  • Entitlement status
  • Renewal, expiration, cancellation, refund, chargeback, and reversal events
  • Server-side quota and retention status

Payment card details are handled by Apple, Google, or the checkout provider shown at purchase time. Social Archiver does not store full payment card details.

Technical and Support Data

We may process:

  • API usage statistics for quota, rate limiting, abuse prevention, and reliability
  • Error logs and diagnostics
  • Support messages and feedback
  • Minimal security logs

How We Use Data

We use data to:

  • Authenticate accounts
  • Archive content requested by the user
  • Sync archives between clients
  • Provide web sharing
  • Enforce monthly archive quota and billing entitlement
  • Preserve server media when enabled
  • Detect abuse and maintain service reliability
  • Provide support and product improvements

Third-Party Services

Social Archiver may use:

  • Cloudflare Workers, D1, KV, R2, Queues, and Pages for API, sync, storage, and web sharing
  • Content fetching infrastructure for archive processing
  • RevenueCat, Apple, Google, or web checkout providers for billing entitlement events
  • Resend or another email provider for authentication and account emails

Third-party services process data according to their own policies.

Data Retention

Local Data

Local archive data remains on your device or in your vault until you delete it.

Server Archive and Sync Data

Server-side archive metadata is retained while your account is active and sync/sharing features are used. You may delete archives or account data through supported app controls or by contacting support.

Shared Data

Shared content remains available until deleted, expired, or removed for policy, abuse, or legal reasons.

Server Media Storage

Server media storage limits and retention depend on plan status. Free accounts may have storage limits and retention windows. Premium, Lifetime, and Admin accounts may receive expanded retention while the entitlement remains active. If entitlement is removed, refunded, canceled, or expired, server media retention may be updated.

Billing Data

Billing entitlement records are retained as needed for account access, accounting, fraud prevention, support, and legal obligations.

Your Rights and Controls

You can:

  • Access local archive files in your vault or app.
  • Delete archived posts locally.
  • Delete or unshare content where supported.
  • Request account deletion.
  • Contact support for access, correction, or deletion requests.

Security

We use security measures such as HTTPS, magic-link authentication, platform provider security, and Cloudflare infrastructure. You are responsible for securing your device, Obsidian vault, email account, and any shared links or passwords.

International Users

Social Archiver is operated from South Korea and uses global infrastructure. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States.

Children's Privacy

Social Archiver is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the updated date on this page.
